Fingerprint cards for background checks REQUIRED starting NOVEMBER 1, 2016

This is a REMINDER that all Professional Corporations and PLLCs must be renewed EITHER online by midnight on Thursday, February 1, 2018 OR postmarked BY 2/1/18 to avoid the additional $10 reinstatement/late fee. (A total of $35 will be due if the specific deadlines stated above are not met. Failure to have received a renewal form will not be justification for waiving the additional $10.)

REMINDER: If you renew online and have had a change of address, please submit notification to the Board office ASAP using the form found at this link so that your renewal card will be mailed to the correct address.

National Examination. The content outline for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) is available on the ASPPB web site at  The EPPP is administered on computer at Pearson Vue Testing Centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. An approved applicant calls a testing site to schedule the examination for his or her chosen location and date. The  cost is $650.00 [$600.00 is remitted to the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), and $50.00 is remitted to the Board as a non-refundable administrative fee]. There is also an additional test administration fee that must be paid to Pearson Vue when scheduling an appointment.

If you have previously taken the EPPP and are required to have the score transferred to the North Carolina Psychology Board (depending on the provision under which you have made application), the link to the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) for that purpose is


State Examination. The Board-developed State Examination assesses the applicant's knowledge of the North Carolina Practice Act, selected rules of the Board covering such topics as education and supervision, and other legal requirements, and the APA Ethics Code. The State Examination is currently a 50-item, multiple choice examination. The State Examination is administered by computer at approved PSI testing centers across the entire United States.  Upon payment of the $200 State Examination fee to the NC Psychology Board, an applicant who has been approved by the Board for examination will be able to schedule their examination online at available locations and on open dates/time slots.
